I actually ones emptied a hanko-bako with 42 hanko inside.
Still that would only fill about one drawer.
Amongst other things in the hanko-bako were ink and brush sets
like the one I posted. Did I mention A4 paper fits really nicely in those drawers. Not to forget, I never found one without spectacles. :-)
Oh yes, Nero-chan loves my furniture. I almost packed him up in a cha dansu ones and shipped him to
Osaka by accident. He loves to get in to any small cosy space. Lucky he started meowing when I started bubble raping the peace.:-)
Thank you, I think I must have been japanese in the Meiji period, in my previous life. I just love this simple but beautiful furniture and lifestyle.;)
Obviously , nobody in the world uses that many
hankos , unless maybe the old postmasters.
In the western world it may have been called file-cabinet , but that isn't quite right.
It is something that stands next to your desk
or maybe on it. In it were amongst other important things, the hanko. Hence hanko-bako . Also remember in the old days people sat on the tatami and had no use for tall furniture.
