General
How does selling work?
It's super easy. It's best to think of it in four simple steps. Post, confirm, buy, and ship.
- Post a product you have or are able to get. You set the price above the normal cost of purchase to make a profit for your efforts.
- After receiving an order you click the "confirm" button on the transaction screen of your account page. This indicates you really are able to get the item. At this point FlutterScape will collect payment from the buyer so you can be assured you'll be reimbursed for your purchase.
- You get the item on behalf of the buyer. This may mean walking down the street to a local shop or ordering it online.
- You ship the product to FlutterScape's logistics center. Don't worry, the cost of shipping is included in the total amount FlutterScape sends to you upon receiving your package.
That's it! When we get your package we will immediately send the buyer's payment to your PayPal account.
Do I need to be in Japan to sell?
Yes, to sell you must be in Japan. If you are not in Japan you can do anything else (share, comment, buy, etc.) but just not sell.
Do I need inventory?
Not at all. Posting something for sale is the equivalent to saying that you are capable of getting it. You don't actually need to have it. Only when you receive and confirm an order are you expected to acquire it. Once FlutterScape has received the item from you we immediately reimburse you for your purchase.
What can't I sell?
As a rule, FlutterScape does not allow the sale of:
- Cash, checks, bills, shares or other securities
- Credit cards, ATM cards or other cards
- Savings/deposit books or withdrawal cards issued by a financial institution
- Live animals or plants, dead animals or stuffed specimens
- Human bodies, human body parts, dead bodies, human remains or mortuary tablets
- Food, drink or other items susceptible to deterioration in quality or decomposition
- Stimulants, cannabis, narcotics, psychotropic substances or any other illegal drugs
- Guns, swords or other weaponry, gun powder or other explosives, poisons or other deleterious substances
- Pharmaceuticals or medical equipment
- Child pornography, adult videos or other materials of an obscene nature
How long do I have to send my customer's order?
Within two days of an order placement FlutterScape requires you to confirm that you can and will purchase the ordered product. If you do not confirm the order within two days of its placement the order will automatically be cancelled.
We require that all orders arrive at our office within seven days after the order is placed. To fulfill this sellers are expected to ship their products before the one week deadline.
If a seller anticipates a delay in shipment for whatever reason please contact FlutterScape at support@flutterscape.com with your order ID and details of the delay.
Am I responsible for the product's warranty?
By default sellers are not responsible for the warranty of the items they sell. However, customers may make warranty requests directly to the sellers. Honoring these requests is the sole discretion of the seller.
Posting and Item
How do I post an item for sale?
Posting an item for sale is almost identical to sharing a product. From the account dashboard simply click the "Sell" button, upload a picture, fill in the product information (most importantly your selling price), and click save.
Can I sell something that someone else posted?
Absolutely. On the product page of the item you want to sell click the "Start selling this" button (where the price would normally be) and fill in the pricing information. You can even start selling a product someone else is currently selling. Multiple sellers is A-OK!
How should I fill out the title, tags, brand, etc.?
Most of the fields required when selling a product are self explanatory. However, FlutterScape recommends sellers be accurate and add plenty of detail. Dimensions, materials, year of production, key features, etc. can often be critical information for buyers. Also, adding plenty of tags helps your items turn up better in searches and increase the likelihood of being discovered.
How does the pricing and fee system work?
When posting a product for sale on FlutterScape you will be prompted to input your seller's cost (item price and cost of shipping to FlutterScape) and the markup you wish to earn (your profit). From this total FlutterScape takes a 10% selling fee.
What are cancelation and shipping penalties?
Frequently failing to ship on time or canceling orders will put a seller's account under review for suspension. Failing to ship or canceling an order three times consecutively will result in an account suspension.
How should I estimate a product's weight?
Estimating the weight of a product is important when determining the cost of international shipping paid by the buyer. As the seller you should estimate shipping slightly higher than actual weight in order to account for packaging and to avoid inaccurate shipping costs.
If the seller underestimates the weight of a product the buyer will pay too little for shipping and the difference in cost paid by the buyer and the actual will be the responsibility of the seller. FlutterScape will automatically remove the difference in shipping cost from the total amount paid to the seller.

Do I need to ship internationally?
Nope, FlutterScape will handle all the hard stuff.

Where is my order ID?
You can find order IDs for all your order in the transaction screen of your account page.
Can I have my product shipped directly from an online store to FlutterScape?
